4 amazing homemade DIY natural beauty recipes you need to try RN

May 20, 2019

Lately, many people are switching to organic beauty (including me), however, finding the right natural products for your skin type takes time and money.

In the meantime, I started making my own DIYs beauty treatments, which are absolutely natural and organic. The only downside is they don’t last long so you can’t store them for months. Instead, make them in small batches. Not only do they totally work but it’s a great and a highly satisfying knowing what exactly you are using on your skin and as well as seeing the effects! These are the top 4 you need to try!

Aloe vera & coconut oil multi-use DIY

This is one of the easiest and most effective multiple-uses DIY I do! If you don’t have an Aloe Vera plant growing in your house yet, invest in one! It has the most amazing properties and can be used to treat all kinds of ailments. You can also buy Aloe Vera gel, which is available in any supermarket or chemist. Mix 2 tbsp of Aloe gel and 2 tbsp of coconut oil, blend, and store! I actually use a kitchen mixer to make sure it’s perfectly blended.

You can use it as a natural body lotion, which not only keeps the skin absolutely soft and but gets rid of any cellulite. Additional use? A great hair softener and scalp cleaner – apply to scalp an hour before you wash your hair and leave.

Anti-ageing face mask

The last beauty DIY will get you that beautiful glow – it can be used as a face mask and it’s perfect for anti-ageing. Also, it helps the skin look super smooth, almost like a replacement for fillers!

Recipe
  • 3 tbsp of fresh cream
  • ¼ of an avocado
  • 1 tbsp of honey
Method

Mix the ingredients in a blender until it forms a cream. Leave it on the skin for at least an hour. Rinse off with lukewarm water and enjoy that dewy look!

Oil & sugar body scrub

We usually go all out on face scrubs but our body needs the same care as well. That’s why I make sure I use a body scrub at least once in two weeks. However, if you are using this natural DIY one there is no reason why you can’t use it once a week. You need one cup of granulated sugar (preferably organic) and half a cup of oil – I use olive oil but coconut oil works too. You can add some essential oil if you’ve had a rough week too! Mix all the ingredients together and store in a jar. Use one spoon for a one-time use body scrub!

Purifying face mask

This facemask is one of the reasons I don’t care about breakouts anymore because it has proven to shrink my whiteheads instantly. Another great DIY that works wonders and you will see the results right away.

Recipe
  • 1 tbsp of Rhassoul clay
  • 8 drops of tea tree oil
  • 3 tbsp of rose water
Method

Clean face well and then steam for 2 minutes. Mix up the three ingredients and apply well to the face and neck. Steam your face again for 5 minutes with the mask on. Let it dry until your face becomes really tight. Wash off the mask and apply a moisturiser.

P.S. Always remember to do a patch test in case you are allergic to any of the ingredients!

I’ve never tried home made beauty products before. I must give them a go as they look surprisingly simple (and much cheaper than the shop bought stuff)!

I’ve heard a lot about coconut oil and aloe vera so often. I think I should give it a try sometimes. I feel like I need a hair mask lately.

I wouldn’t have thought to add the coconut oil to the aloe vera but it does make a bit of sense. My daughter would definitely be interested in this.
